Science and mathematics teachers
The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) methodology is an interdisciplinary approach to study exact and natural sciences through project-based activities, which makes learning and the involvement of students in scientific and technological creative process to be more effective.
The aim of the project is to increase the competitiveness of students for future employment by incorporating STEM methodology into the educational process.
The project consisted of two main areas: a professional development programme for 40 teachers of exact and natural sciences and the participation of 8th-10th grade students in project activities.
The professional development programme 'School Project Office: STEM Technologies in Action' is addressed to teachers of primary and secondary schools and covers the following subject areas: physics, mathematics, computer science, technology, biology and chemistry. During the course, participants learn the theoretical foundation of STEM technologies, experience of using these technologies at school, and also learn how to independently design and conduct STEM-format lessons in everyday school practice.
Participants in the current stream (April-November 2021) have already received training and begun creating projects with their students, accompanied by the programme's methodologists. At the beginning of November, a project competition will take place and the five best teams will receive funding for further realization of their ideas.
