On December 11-13, a meeting of the teams of the project “Advancing the Activism and Rights of HIV-Positive Women in the Russian Federation” was held in Moscow.
The project team consists of representatives of the medical community and women living with HIV. In total, six such teams were created – in two regions of the project, the Nizhny Novgorod and Rostov regions. The working meeting was aimed at developing a draft of awareness-raising seminars for medical professionals and building capacity for conducting seminars. The focus was on the relationship between doctors and their patients, with a particular focus on HIV-positive women, patient rights and the quality of health care delivery. At the meeting, the participants adjusted and approved all information and educational materials, tools that will be used at the seminars. The meeting was moderated by Ekaterina Yuryevna Stepanova, PhD, infectious diseases doctor, trainer, activist, and Maria Kiseleva, project coordinator.
An awareness campaign for health professionals will start next year. The campaign is planned to cover at least 1000 specialists in two regions of the project.
The project “Advancing the Activism and Rights of HIV-Positive Women in the Russian Federation” is implemented with the support of the UN Democracy Fund and aims to improve the quality of medical services provided to HIV-positive women and develop social activity among them.
