The FOCUS-MEDIA Foundation with the financial support of the AIDS East-West Foundation promoting prevention, treatment and healthy lifestyles has been implementing the project “Disseminating best practices in providing HIV / AIDS services to key groups among youth” since July 1, 2020. STEP Charitable Foundation is the regional partner of the project.

The target group of the project are young people 14 – 24 years old, students of schools and colleges in the cities of Nizhny Novgorod Region: Nizhny Novgorod, Pavlovo, Dzerzhinsk and Bor. Work in Nizhny Novgorod Rehabilitation Center for people who abuse drugs is being implemented in the framework of the project as well.

The dates and the format of the planned activities have been altered because of the pandemic. Nevertheless, the project tasks are being achieved. In December STEP Charitable Foundation, the partner of the project in Nizhny Novgorod, held a number of events:

• Online lessons on risky behavior and HIV prevention were held in 9-11th forms at schools in Pavlovo and Dzerzhinsk. The lessons were conducted by the Fund’s social teachers Egor Sekretov and Olga Naumova.
• A number of lectures were held in Nizhny Novgorod State Educational Institution for orphans and children left without parental care “The First Sanatorium Orphanage”.
• Lectures’ participants take part in the survey aiming to assess the factors of risky behavior among young people.
• An event dedicated to the World AIDS Day was held at the STEP social rehabilitation center. The event was organized by the Champions of the Center. Residents of the center participated in it.

The total number of participants in the past events was about 150 people.
