Peers in Rostov-on-Don

10 peer consultants who had been trained earlier improved their skills and qualification on April 24-25. The participants shared their experience in providing consultations, caring for women, worked on consultants’ issues, developed new skills and knowledge, additional resources and much more.

Such trainings serve also as a burnout prevention. Since the work of a peer consultant implies a strong emotional involvement, it is important to indicate and prevent the burnout. After all, the success of the work of an equal consultant depends on his resource capacity.

This training was the final in a series of training events for peer consultants, provided by the project “Comprehensive support for women living with HIV affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the Nizhny Novgorod and Rostov regions”, supported by the President Grants Fund.

The consultants will continue to work in two Project regions and accompany pregnant women with HIV, providing psychological support, building motivation for antiretroviral therapy, giving birth kits to pregnant women, which have been bought in the framework of this project.
